Job Title: AC Technician (Air Conditioning Technician)
Department: Maintenance / HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)

Job Summary:
An AC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and servicing air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, and related HVAC equipment. They ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and safety of cooling systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation:
Install new air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, and ventilation equipment.
Assemble and position equipment, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
Connect electrical wiring and controls, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Test newly installed systems to verify proper functioning.
Maintenance & Servicing:
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on AC units.
Clean and replace filters, coils, and other components to ensure efficiency.
Check refrigerant levels and recharge systems as needed.
Lubricate moving parts and inspect for leaks or damage.
Repairs & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in AC systems.
Repair or replace defective parts, such as motors, thermostats, or circuit boards.
Fix refrigerant leaks and recharge systems with the correct gas type.
Troubleshoot issues related to airflow, thermostat malfunctions, and compressor failures.
Customer Service & Doentation:
Communicate with customers to explain issues and recommend solutions.
Provide cost estimates for repairs or installations.
Maintain service records, including work performed and parts used.
Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., refrigerant handling).
Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical components.
Ability to use tools like gauges, vacuum pumps, and multimeters.
Understanding of E handling regulations.
Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and fix AC issues efficiently.
Physical Stamina: Comfortable working in tight spaces, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy equipment.
Certifications: EPA 608 Certification (for handling refrigerants) is often required.
Experience: Previous work as an AC technician or HVAC apprentice preferred.
Work Environment:
Field work in homes, offices, or industrial sites.
Exposure to extreme temperatures and electrical hazards.
May require on-call duty for emergency repairs.
