Core Responsibilities
1. Fabrication: Cutting, bending, and shaping galvanized iron (GI) sheets or pre-insulated (PI) panels into rectangular or round ducts based on technical drawings.
2. Installation: Hanging and joining duct sections using cleats, flanges, and gaskets. This includes installing dampers, louvers, and diffusers (grilles).
3. Insulation: Applying fiberglass or rubber insulation (nitrile rubber) and aluminum foil to ducts to prevent condensation and maintain energy efficiency.
4. Sealing: Applying duct sealant (mastic) and tapes to ensure airtight connections and prevent cool air leakage, which is critical in the UAE's high-heat environment.
5. Reading Blueprints: Interpreting HVAC layouts and shop drawings to determine the correct routing of the ductwork through ceilings and plant rooms.
Proficiency in using hand tools like tin snips, hammers, and benders, as well as power tools for cutting metal.
Ability to measure accurately to ensure duct sections fit perfectly in tight ceiling voids.
Capacity to work at heights (on scaffolding or ladders) and in non-air-conditioned construction environments.
Coordinating with AC Technicians and Pipefitters to ensure the entire HVAC system is synchronized.
