A GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) Lining Fabricator responsible for applying protective fiberglass coatings to surfaces—such as water tanks, chemical storage units, swimming pools, and pipelines—to prevent corrosion and leaks.
Core Job Responsibilities
• Surface Preparation: Cleaning, sanding, and priming substrates (concrete, steel, or wood) to ensure maximum adhesion of the lining.
• Material Application: Cutting fiberglass mats to size and applying resin mixtures (polyester, epoxy, or vinyl ester) in multiple layers to reach the specified thickness.
• Lamination & Curing: Saturating fiberglass cloth with resin using brushes or rollers, removing air bubbles, and allowing the material to cure properly.
• Finishing: Applying a protective gel coat for UV resistance and performing final sanding or grinding to ensure a smooth, professional finish.
• Quality Inspection: Conducting spark tests or hydro-testing to validate the integrity and leak-proof nature of the lining.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in hand lay-up techniques, resin mixing, and the use of pneumatic spray guns.
• Safety Knowledge: Strict adherence to UAE safety protocols (PPE, hazardous material handling) is mandatory due to the chemicals involved.
• Experience: Require 2 years of local experience and mandate GRP 3rd Party Certification.
• Physical Stamina: The role involves significant standing, working in confined spaces (like tanks), and operating in outdoor site conditions.
