Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced African Cook to prepare a variety of traditional and international dishes for a private household. The ideal candidate should have a deep knowledge of African cuisine, with the ability to plan, prepare, and serve delicious and well-balanced meals for lunch and dinner.

Responsibilities:

Prepare a wide range of authentic African dishes and other international cuisines as requested.

Plan daily menus based on dietary preferences and seasonal ingredients.

Ensure all meals are cooked to high standards of taste, hygiene, and presentation.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and pantry.

Shop for fresh ingredients and manage kitchen supplies efficiently.

Serve meals professionally and ensure a pleasant dining experience.


Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience as a professional cook, preferably in private homes or ambassadorial residences.

Expertise in African cuisines such as West, East, or Southern African dishes.

Knowledge of international recipes and healthy cooking methods.

Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness.

Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Excellent time management and communication skills.


Candidate Requirements

1. Experience:

Minimum 3–5 years of professional cooking experience, preferably in private households, hotels, or ambassadorial residences.

Proven experience in preparing authentic African cuisine (e.g., West African, East African, or Southern African dishes).

Experience in international and continental cooking is an added advantage.


2. Skills:

Excellent culinary skills with strong knowledge of spices, flavors, and traditional African cooking techniques.

Ability to plan menus, create balanced meals, and accommodate dietary preferences or restrictions.

Strong food presentation and plating skills.

Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.

Efficient in time management and meal preparation scheduling.


3. Personal Qualities:

Clean, well-groomed, and professional appearance.

Honest, trustworthy, and respectful.

Flexible and adaptable to household routines or special occasions.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Good communication skills and a positive attitude.


4. Education & Training:

Certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts or Professional Cooking preferred.

Training in food safety and hygiene is an advantage.


5. Other Requirements:

Ability to work full-time, including weekends or special events if required.

Must have valid references from previous employers.
