Ovation Engineer – Job Description
Location: Muscat (Oman), On Site
Client: with one of the reputed client in Muscat
Overview
Ovation Engineer with hands-on experience in Emerson Ovation DCS, responsible mainly for preventive
maintenance, system health checks and troubleshooting at customer sites, and supporting site modifications
when required.
1. Key Responsibilities
• Carry out preventive maintenance of Emerson Ovation DCS as per the PM plan – controllers,, workstations, servers, network and power supplies
• Perform system health checks, diagnostics review, backups and PM reporting
• Troubleshoot Ovation controllers, modules, workstations and network issues at site
• Perform minor logic, graphics and database modifications using Ovation Developer Studio under PTW and MOC
• Support third-party communication checks (Modbus, Profibus, OPC)
• Support system upgrades, commissioning and SAT activities when required
• Prepare PM reports, findings and recommendations for the client
• Coordinate with client operations and follow client HSE procedures
• Support OT cybersecurity activities – patching, antivirus, backups and user management
2. Required Skills
• Hands-on Emerson Ovation DCS hardware and software (controllers,, Developer Studio, Operator Station)
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting experience at site
• Basic knowledge of Ovation network, redundancy and third-party communication
• Understanding of instrumentation, control loops and interlocks
• Basic knowledge of OT cybersecurity and virtualization – added advantage
• Good troubleshooting, reporting and communication skills
• Willingness to travel to sites across Oman
3. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control / Electronics / Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Emerson Ovation training or certification – preferred
4. Experience
• 3–5 years of experience in DCS, with hands-on Emerson Ovation experience (mandatory)
• Site experience: minimum 2 years in Ovation preventive maintenance / site support (mandatory)
• Commissioning experience – added advantage
