The Pastry Assistant supports the pastry team in preparing, baking, and decorating pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This role involves assisting with ingredient preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring smooth daily operations within the pastry section. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, passionate about desserts, and eager to learn advanced pastry techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Pastry Chef in preparing and producing cakes, tarts, cookies, mousses, and other desserts.
Weigh, measure, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and production schedules.
Help with decorating and garnishing pastries and plated desserts.
Operate and clean kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, and blenders.
Ensure workstations and utensils are kept clean and sanitized at all times.
Organize and store ingredients and baked goods properly to maintain freshness and quality.
Support in stock control by reporting low inventory and assisting with ingredient ordering.
Follow all hygiene, food safety, and health regulations (HACCP standards).
Assist in preparing pastries and desserts for events, catering orders, and daily service.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure timely production and service.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience in a bakery, café, hotel, or pastry kitchen preferred but not mandatory.
Basic knowledge of pastry techniques and baking fundamentals.
Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency.
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Culinary or pastry certification is an advantage.
