We are seeking a passionate and skilled Pediatric Ophthalmologist to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical care for infants, children, adolescents, and adults with strabismus, helping our youngest patients achieve optimal visual development.Key Responsibilities:Comprehensive Examinations: Perform age-appropriate, thorough eye exams on infants, children, and teenagers to evaluate visual acuity, refractive errors, and ocular motility.Surgical Interventions: Execute complex, delicate microsurgical procedures, including strabismus (crossed eyes) corrections, congenital cataract extractions, blocked tear duct probings, and management of ocular trauma.Disease Management: Diagnosed and manage specific pediatric conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), pediatric glaucoma, and genetic eye disorders.Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with pediatricians, neonatologists, neurologists, and geneticists to coordinate care for patients with complex or systemic medical conditions affecting the eyes.Family & Caregiver Counseling: Educate parents and caregivers on diagnosis, treatment compliance (such as patching therapies or corrective lenses), and long-term visual development goals.Medical Doentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed patient records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.Required Qualifications & Experience:Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.Residency: Successful completion of an accredited 3-to-4-year residency program in General Ophthalmology.Fellowship: Completion of an accredited 1-to-2-year fellowship program in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.Licensure & Certification: Board certification or board eligibility in Ophthalmology, and a valid, unrestricted state medical license.Experience: Prior clinical and surgical experience within a pediatric hospital or a specialized eye care facility is highly preferred.Essential Skills:Pediatric Care Excellence: Exceptional ability to connect with, soothe, and effectively examine uncooperative, anxious, or non-verbal young children.Surgical Precision: Superior hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and manual dexterity required for delicate microsurgery on tiny ocular structures.Communication & Empathy: Strong interpersonal skills to break down complex medical terms into easily understandable language for anxious families and children.
