Job Summary:
The Project Engineer – Roads is responsible for planning, execution, and supervision of road construction projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage day-to-day road construction activities (earthworks, sub-base, asphalt, kerbs, drainage, etc.).
Review project drawings, specifications, and method statements.
Coordinate with surveyors, supervisors, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
Ensure compliance with project schedule, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Prepare daily progress reports, work schedules, and material requirements.
Monitor quantities, measurements, and assist in preparation of IPCs and variation claims.
Liaise with consultants, clients, and authorities for inspections and approvals.
Ensure proper implementation of procedures on site.
Identify construction issues and provide technical solutions.
Ensure proper utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.
Follow HSE rules and promote safe working practices on site.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
5+ years of experience in road and infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of road construction methods, materials, and specifications.
Experience with asphalt works, pavement layers, and drainage systems.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical doents.
Skills & Competencies:
Compulsory need UPDA Grade (A,B or C)
Good communication and coordination skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of construction standards and local authority requirements.
Proficient in MS Office and basic engineering software.
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Working Conditions:
Site-based role with extended working hours as required.
Exposure to outdoor site conditions.
