Job Summary
A Structural Fabricator is responsible for cutting, shaping, assembling, and welding metal components to build structural frameworks such as beams, columns, skids, tanks, platforms, and other steel structures as per drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication details
Measure, mark, and cut materials (MS, SS, etc.) using tools and machines
Perform fit-up and assembly of structural components
Carry out welding (SMAW, MIG, TIG as required)
Ensure proper alignment, dimensions, and tolerances during fabrication
Operate fabrication equipment such as:
Cutting machines (gas cutting, plasma)
Drilling machines
Grinders and polishing tools
Perform trial fit-ups before final welding
Follow WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and quality standards
Inspect finished work for defects and ensure compliance with drawings
Coordinate with supervisors, welders, and teams
Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean working area
Skills & Requirements
Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings
Good knowledge of metal fabrication and welding techniques
Familiarity with structural materials and profiles (beams, channels, RHS, plates)
Basic knowledge of tolerances and measurements
Skilled in handling fabrication tools and machines
Understanding of safety procedures and PPE usage
Qualifications
ITI / Technical diploma in fabrication, welding, or related field
Minimum 2–5 years experience in structural fabrication (skids, tanks, frames, etc.)
Working Conditions
Workshop a site-based work
Exposure to heat, noise, and industrial environment
Preferred Experience
Experience in fabrication of:
Skids and frames
Tanks and vessels
Structural platforms and supports
Experience working on oil & gas or industrial projects
