We are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent or Technical Manager, based in Dubai, UAE, to oversee the technical operations of our dry bulk vessels. The ideal candidate should have prior sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer, along with a minimum of five years in a shore-based technical management or superintendent role.
This position plays a key role in overseeing the technical performance, maintenance, and compliance of our fleet, ensuring vessels meet all international and regional regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day technical operations of assigned vessels, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor scheduled maintenance, dry-dockings, and repair projects, including budgeting and reporting.
- Perform regular inspections and vessel visits to assess condition and compliance.
- Ensure vessels maintain full compliance with international maritime regulations.
- Act as primary point of contact between the vessel and shore-based departments on all technical matters.
- Supervise the implementation of risk management procedures and participate in root cause analysis of incidents and accidents.
- Ensure all statutory and class certifications are up to date and assist in the preparation for Port State Control inspections and external audits.
- Provide technical guidance and support to onboard engineers and crew.
- Prepare and submit technical and budgetary reports to management on vessel performance and expenditure.
- Coordinate with classification societies, vendors, service providers, and regulatory authorities as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventories, and fleet performance metrics using the company’s PMS or ERP systems.
- Age: Must be under 55 years old.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a superintendent or technical manager role.
- Sea-going Background: Prior experience as Chief Engineer on vessels, preferably with fleets above 20,000 DWT.
- Technical Expertise: Solid experience with 2-stroke engines.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Marine Conventions, PSC, Risk Management, Accident Investigation, EU Maritime Regulations, and ISM Code.
- Travel: No travel restrictions; Schengen Visa is highly preferred.
- Language: Proficient in English (Intermediate level or above).
