Job Description

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Graphic Designer & Print Production Coordinator who understands both graphic design and the technical aspects of printing and packaging production.

The ideal candidate must be capable of handling the complete process, from meeting with clients and understanding their requirements to designing packaging products, preparing physical samples, coordinating with the production team, and ensuring successful completion of orders.

This is not a traditional graphic design position. We are looking for someone who can bridge the gap between clients, design, and factory production, ensuring that designs are practical, cost-effective, and ready for manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Consultation & Product Development

* Meet directly with clients to understand their packaging, branding, and printing requirements.
* Discuss product specifications, dimensions, materials, printing methods, and finishing options.
* Recommend suitable packaging solutions based on the client’s requirements and production capabilities.
* Create initial designs and digital mockups during or following client meetings.
* Coordinate with the production team to develop physical samples and prototypes for client approval.
* Make necessary design adjustments based on client feedback.
* Obtain final client approval before proceeding with mass production.

2. Graphic Design & Packaging Development

* Design and prepare artwork for various printing and packaging products, including:
* Paper cups and double-wall cup sleeves.
* Paper bowls and food containers.
* Paper shopping bags and takeaway bags.
* Food packaging, takeaway boxes, and cartons.
* Product boxes and custom packaging.
* Stickers, labels, and wrapping materials.
* Brochures, business cards, flyers, and other printed materials.
* Develop accurate packaging dielines, cutting templates, and folding layouts.
* Prepare 2D artwork and realistic 3D product mockups for client presentations.
* Ensure designs are compatible with factory machinery and production requirements.
* Modify existing artwork and prepare customer-supplied designs for printing.

3. Printing & Prepress Knowledge

* Have a strong understanding of offset and digital printing processes.
* Prepare production-ready files with accurate specifications, including:
* CMYK and Pantone color management.
* Bleed, margins, and crop marks.
* Die-cutting and creasing lines.
* Image resolution and print quality.
* Color separation and print registration.
* Paper types, thickness (GSM), and finishing requirements.
* Understand printing plates, machine setup, and basic printing limitations.
* Ensure all artwork is technically correct before being released for production.
* Identify potential printing or manufacturing issues before production begins.

4. Production Coordination & Management

* Work closely with printing operators, die-cutting operators, finishing staff, and packaging workers.
* Convert approved client designs into clear production instructions.
* Coordinate the production of physical samples and prototypes.
* Follow up on printing, cutting, folding, gluing, sleeve application, and packaging processes.
* Monitor production schedules and ensure orders are completed within agreed deadlines.
* Check that the final manufactured product matches the approved client sample.
* Assist production management in organizing jobs and prioritizing urgent orders.
* Identify production errors, material waste, or quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
* Maintain effective communication between the client-facing team and factory workers.

5. Quality Control & Order Follow-Up

* Inspect printed samples for color accuracy, finishing quality, dimensions, and overall appearance.
* Verify that the final product meets the client’s approved specifications.
* Maintain organized records of approved designs, samples, dielines, and production files.
* Track design revisions and ensure the production team uses the latest approved version.
* Assist in resolving customer complaints related to printing or packaging quality.
* Support continuous improvement in production efficiency and product quality.

Required Qualifications & Experience

* Minimum 2–3 years of experience in graphic design within a printing press, packaging factory, or related manufacturing environment.
* Proven experience designing paper packaging products, particularly paper cups, paper bags, boxes, and food packaging.
* Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and other relevant design software.
* Ability to create and modify packaging dielines and production-ready artwork.
* Practical knowledge of offset printing, digital printing, die-cutting, and packaging finishing processes.
* Understanding of different paper materials, printing specifications, and packaging construction.
* Ability to communicate directly with clients and translate their requirements into manufacturable products.
* Experience coordinating with factory production teams.
* Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously.
* Good English communication skills; Arabic is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

* Previous experience working in a paper cup, paper bag, or food packaging manufacturing facility.
* Knowledge of double-wall paper cup sleeves and their production processes.
* Experience developing physical packaging samples and prototypes.
* Familiarity with printing machinery and factory workflows.
* Ability to estimate material requirements and understand production costs.
* Basic production planning and inventory coordination experience.
* Knowledge of packaging quality standards and waste reduction techniques.

Expected Workflow

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the following process:

Step 1 – Client Meeting: Meet the customer, understand their product requirements, and discuss suitable packaging options.

Step 2 – Design: Prepare artwork, packaging dimensions, dielines, and digital mockups.

Step 3 – Sample Production: Coordinate with factory workers to manufacture a physical sample for the client.

Step 4 – Client Approval: Present the sample, collect feedback, and make any necessary adjustments.

Step 5 – Production Preparation: Finalize approved artwork, prepare printing files, and communicate production instructions.

Step 6 – Production Coordination: Follow up with the production team throughout printing, die-cutting, assembly, and finishing.

Step 7 – Quality Control: Ensure the final manufactured products match the approved sample and meet quality requirements.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a hands-on designer with strong printing and packaging production knowledge, rather than someone who focuses only on digital graphics.

The successful candidate should be comfortable meeting clients, creating packaging designs, working directly with factory employees, preparing physical samples, and following orders through to final production.

Our goal is to hire someone who can take a customer’s idea and turn it into a finished, manufactured packaging product while maintaining quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
