Job Summary
The Head Waiter is responsible for supervising the service team on the floor, ensuring high standards of guest service, smooth daily operations, and effective coordination between service staff, kitchen, and management. The role requires strong leadership, product knowledge, and excellent guest-handling skills.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Guest Experience
Ensure exceptional guest service at all times
Personally handle VIP guests and resolve guest complaints professionally
Monitor table service, food presentation, and service timing
Ensure upselling of menu items, beverages, and promotions
Team Supervision
Supervise waiters, runners, and support staff during shifts
Assign sections and duties before service
Guide, train, and motivate the service team
Monitor staff grooming, hygiene, and discipline
Operations & Coordination
Coordinate closely with kitchen and bar for smooth service flow
Ensure correct order taking and POS usage
Check table setup, cleanliness, and readiness before service
Assist the Restaurant Manager in daily operations
Compliance & Standards
Ensure adherence to restaurant SOPs and service standards
Maintain health, safety, and hygiene compliance
Ensure cash handling and billing accuracy when required
Reporting
Report operational issues to the Restaurant Manager
Assist in preparing shift reports and feedback on staff performance
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years experience as a waiter, with at least 1 year as Head Waiter / Senior Waiter
Strong knowledge of food, beverages, and service standards
Good communication skills in English (Arabic or other languages preferred)
Leadership and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage busy service periods
